Governor Ganduje Commissioned Wudil Substation 9 Years After It Was Abandoned

The governor of Kano start His Excellency Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR has commissioned 1x30/40MVA, 132/33kV substation at Wudil which was awarded and abandoned 9yrs ago by the Federal Government.

The project which was taking over by Transmission Company of Nigeria and completed, at the instance of the Member of Wudil Hon Mohd Umar Wudil. The newly commissioned substation in Wudil will supply electricity to 7Local Government areas, and ease the load at the Dakata Substation.

In his remarks Governor Ganduje said "“ This substation is an effort and clear manifestation of the member representing Wudil/Garko in the federal house of representatives Mohd Ali Wudil,   driven by his overriding ambition to serve his people through meaningful representation” Ganduje added."

The ventures are an expansion to the twenty-seven power transformers completed across the nation by TCN in-house engineers. The agreement for the development of Wudil Transmission Substation was granted in 2009 yet the contractual workers neglected the project for a very long time.

Therefore, TCN assumed control over the venture in July 2018, in accordance with its policy on Transmission Rehabilitation and Expansion Program (TREP). She clarified that the venture was effectively concluded within three weeks by TCN's in-house designs and stimulated in July 31st, 2018. As indicated by her, the Wudil Transmission Substation venture has expanded the quantum of mass power supply to Kano Electricity Distribution Company for forwarding conveyance to power clients in Gaya Town, Taraki Garko, Wudil Town, and Mariri, among others.

Earlier in his welcome address, the managing director of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Usman Mohammed said the impact of the project cannot be over-emphasized, as the newly commissioned sub-station will relieve on the load Dakata sub-station which was overloaded because it supplied other neighboring communities between Dakata and Wudil.

He added that the project is a good edifice worthy of pride which will bring positive impacts to the targeted beneficiaries and beyond.
